Tikkun Olam (social justice) is a core value of our community, and shows itself in many different ways.
We commit to tzedakah (charity) projects on an ongoing basis.
Our members run an extremely successful monthly Drop In Centre for Destitute Asylum Seekers.
Click here for information on a wonderful asylum seekers' project - the Refugees' Seder - in which Nic Schlagman and a number of other former Noam Movement Workers were involved in Israel last Pesach. Click here to read an article in the Jerusalem Post (10.03.2010) about Nic's work.
NNLS is a Fair Trade Synagogue, meaning we endeavour to use Fair Trade products wherever possible for all of our events. Click here to view the Jewish Guide to Faritrade.
Our Green Team takes responsibilty for optimising our environmental friendliness as a community. And, as a community, NNLS has planted our own woodland forest in Theydon Bois, Epping Forest.
Our new building will incorporate an extremely energy efficient Ground Source Heat Pump. In order to help us with the cost of this element of the new building development, each time you fly, please consider contributing to the NNLS Carbon Offset Fund.
Interfaith relations are also of key concern at NNLS. We frequently host interfaith events to facilitate communication and relationships with other faiths. Look out for more information in the What's On section.
